Yamaha Launches 150cc Sports Bike

Japanese two wheeler major, Yamaha has launched a 150cc sports bike, the Yamaha R15 in the country. The ex-showroom price of the motorcycle will be Rs.97,425. According to the India Yamaha Motor CEO and Managing Director Tsutomu Mabuchi, with the launch of the R15, Yamaha has unleashed a superior product because India has got a large number of sports bike enthusiasts. What these enthusiasts want is a machine that is loaded to the gills with technology, power, performance and artistic brilliance.

The Yamaha YZF-R15 will be available to the customers in two colours - blue and black. The R15 has a 150cc liquid cooled single cylinder fuel injected engine that develops about 17 bhp of power and 15Nm of torque. The R15 is based on the DNA of the legendary superbike of Yamaha - the R1. According to Yamaha officials, the R15 has enough power to beat every Indian motorcycle that has been produced to date, in both straight line performance and in the race track as well. Yamaha is touting the R15 as a motorcycle that is made keeping the race-track performance in mind.

The R15 uses state-of-the-art technology, like a 4-valve engine, forged piston, front and rear disc brakes, tubeless tyres, mono-shock, a delta-box frame, etc. It is also the first Indian motorcycle to have a 6-speed gearbox, to enhance the drivability and the performance of the machine.

Apart from the R15, Yamaha has also launched it's premium bikes in India, namely the 1600cc Yamaha MT-01 and the 1000cc Yamaha R1. The product portfolio of Yamaha also include the Gladiator (SS and RS type), Gladiator Graffiti, G5, Alba and Crux.
